Problem Fix: The Crappy New-Tab Page in Google Chrome

I complained before about the awfulness of the new tab page in Google Chrome.

Today, I found a workaround for this smartphoneish abuse of whitespace.

You can find the fix here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=172036d6e2c73ba2&hl=en

Or if you don’t like clicking, here’s how to fix:

  1. Close all Chrome windows.
  2. Right-click the Google Chrome’s shortcut you are using and choose Properties.
  3. Append –new-tab-page to the end of the Target, making sure there’s a space between the chrome.exe and –new-tab-page.
  4. It should look like this: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe –new-tab-page
